Summer Solstice
This past weekend was the Summer Solstice and I can’t believe it has already been a year since our last Summer Solstice Feast! The Summer Solstice, or Midsummer, marks the longest day of the year and, depending on where you live it is the beginning of summer or the middle of summer. Since it is the longest day of the year and the days will only be getting shorter from here on out… I think I have to side with those who say its the very middle of Summer!
There are many ways to celebrate Summer Solstice, but for us we could think of no better way than a candle-lit feast overflowing with flowers. Nerea Henley is an amazing florist and we knew immediately we wanted to work with her on this project. She took the color scheme and worked well within our budget to create an unforgettable tablescape!
Because the Summer Solstice is a time of festivity, growth, and light, most of the Midsummer traditions include lots of flowers and fire. We also added peaches as a nice Texas Summer touch!
And of course we had to dress up our beautiful gazebo which makes the perfect backdrop!
The festivities started during daylight (seeing as this is the Longest day of the year, leaving us with barely 8 hours of dark) but lasted well into the night as any good feast and celebration does. We think everything looked just as beautiful at night as it did during the day.
